竹の茶室Bamboo tea house

小倉城竹あかり2020のイベントで竹のモニュメントを市民有志と製作した。放置竹林の問題をテーマにしたイベントなので、竹林を抽象化した空間ができないものかと考えたる一方で、代表をつとめる辻利茶屋の辻さんと一緒に茶道をしていたこともあり、竹に囲まれた中で茶事ができないものかとも考えた。グリット上に立てた170本の竹の中心に二畳の畳を敷き、華道や書、そして茶事のパフォーマンスを竹越しに眺める壁のない空間が天守閣脇に出来上がった。

At the event of Kokura Castle ‘Take Akari 2020’, we made a bamboo monument together with citizen volunteers. The event brought up the abandoned bamboo grove issue as a theme. While wondering a possible space that abstracts bamboo grove could be created, we had a tea ceremony with Mr. Tsuji who is the representative of Tsujiri Chaya. He also wondered if he could do a tea ceremony in the middle of bamboo trees. A two mat of tatami was laid in the center of 170 bamboos trees on the grit, and a wall-less space was created beside the castle tower where we could see the flower arrangement, calligraphy, and tea ceremony performances between the bamboos.
