仲の良い夫婦が70歳を機にこれまでの住み慣れた住宅地から小倉の中心市街地に引越しを決意した。誰でも実現できることではないが、長く北九州に住んで、年を重ね、最後のすまいとして、デパートに歩いて行き、友人が出入りしやすい豊かな環境を選択したことに共感した。夫婦だけの暮らしなので、シンプルな構成を心がけた。南面の道路に面した2階にある夫婦のアトリエはデッキに繋がり、そこには日除けのためのタープが架かっている。デッキから階段を降りればピロティーに、そしてまちに繋がっている。

A 70 years old lovely couple decided to move from common residential area to the central city of Kokura. They want to realize their last place to live in Kitakyushu City for a long time, repeating years by years, walk close to the department store, feels the environment of city social life which also easy to access. Because it is only two of them, we proposed a simple composition. The couple's atelier on the second floor facing the road on the south side connects to deck with the shading from tarp. If we go to downstairs from the deck, we are connected to the piloti and to the town.
